The film script is based on the play. It reaches further in time to reveal deeper conflict, wider consequences, but also a promising future.
Logline:
Kosovo 1999, a Balkan country, at the crossroads of cultures, where East meets West, Islam collides with Christianity. Yet another war is escalating. Can two young lovers, a Muslim girl and a Christian boy, break the cycle of hate, while historic events unfold to tear them apart? Can they overthrow a dictator with humor as a weapon?
NEXT STEP – FEATURE FILM OR TV DRAMA SERIES
Radical Love is a simple story with a happy ending: boy-meets-girl-in-a-bomb-shelter. But the context is an incredibly complex clash of politics, cultures and religions that continues to this day in former Yugoslavia. I do not expect a happy ending to those conflicts anytime soon, nor do the people of former Yugoslavia. They have found their own way, through laughter and love in the face of war and blood.
Radical Love is my contribution to my home and to the world, in the honor of those who loved in the eyes of war.
I am shopping the script internationally, looking for a TV network or film company interested in saying what needs to be said, but has never been heard before. I put my career on hold to write this story and then produce it on stage. Can you bring it alive on screen? Can you convey both 20-something romance and the grim realities of terrorism and war?
